V. Mayakovsky : Stikhi o vojne (V. Mayakovsky : Poems about War)

Near fine condition. Cover shows some minor soiling, diagonal creaser at the front cover’s upper right corner, also small creaser across the same corner, foxing spots and bookstore stamp on the back cover, stress lines at staples; internally small creases across upper outer corner of the pages, some pages show yellowing to the edges, few ocassional foxing spots. 

Current collection of Mayakovsky’s poems compiled by Russian writer, literary researcher and critic, doctor of philology Isaak Eventov (1910-1989). The theme of his doctoral thesis defended in 1941 was “Mayakovsky – satiric” (Mayakovsky as Satirist). The same year Eventov had published compilation of poetry from the Mayakovsky’s World War I poems. It includes battle poems, marches and patriotic songs, war propaganda verses created for ROSTA posters, satire. In the preface author reviews the features of Mayakovsky’s war poetry. For the book’s cover design is used Mayakovsky’s illustration created for the ROSTA windows poster.
