Rare catalog for the French Art Exhibition held in Tallinn Art Hall in 1939, which contains list of 98 presented artworks and 8 reproductions. Foreword by Claude Roger-Marx, French art critic and art historian, current exhibition chief organizer. One of the biggest and most important French Art exhibitions therefore organized in Baltic states, giving a comprehensive overview of French artists generation followed Impressionists and Neo-Impressionists. The exhibition covers the period c. 1890-1939. Ten outstanding painters of the exhibition – Bonnard, Vuillard, Matisse, Rouault, Marquet, Picasso, Dufy, Segonzac, Utrillo, Vlaminck. Of course organizers could’t exclude artists of new generation, Cubism tendences, also great works of art in black-and-white – drawings and engravings. This exhibition influenced many Estonian artists creation, who were not able to visit France.
