Very good condition; book cover shows slight soiling, back wrapper is stained and foxed, front wrapped is rubbed along bottom edge, small creases across cover corners; internally foxing on the first and last pages. 

Book cover made of thick quality paper, pretty decorative ribbon binding.


This exhibition was significant event for both states and took place under patronage of the Heads of two states. Event was organized by Latvian Government Commissioner Professor V. Purvitis and painter E. Sveics. Well-designed exhibition catalog provides valuable insight into the event. Foreword written by Professor Vilhelms Purvitis titled "Latvian artists" briefly describes development of Latvian art which was strongly influenced by historical events. Mentioned famous artists of XIX century, whose works were not displayed at present exhibition, but who had great influence on modern artists creation. Also featured participant artists of older and younger generations. Foreword followed by list of exhibits. Each artist presented from one or two to six works, totally were displayed 110 painting and sculpture works by 30 masters. At the end of the catalog added 14 full-paged artwork reproductions printed on coated fine paper. Among the participants were Prof. Vilis Purvitis, who is considered a teacher of whole artists generation, Ludolfs Liberts, Karlis Miesnieks, Eduards Kalnins, Otis Skulme, Jekabs Bine, Janis Cielava, Valdis Kalnrose, Franciska Varslavans, Valdemars Tone and others.
