Current fourth autumn art exhibition was held at M. K. Ciurlionis National Art Museum in Kaunas from 4 November 1938 to 23 January 1939. Exposition was organized by the Lithuanian Artists' Association (LLA). LLA was founded in 1935 as a creative voluntary artistic organization uniting professional painters and artists, which worked towards promoting the works of art. In the year of founding Association included 44 members, in 1936 - 75, 1937 - 80, in the year of present exhibition 1939 - 104. The event was dedicated to Lithuania's 20th anniversary of independence. Exhibition organizers succeeded in bringing together almost all Lithuanian artists under one roof. During the 20 years of independence took place one of the most important accomplishments in Lithuanian national art - art school establishment. Here educated the students who stepped into the world of art surrounded by national culture and native nature, which must be considered as a great positive impact on national art development. Some of them raised qualifications abroad for several years. That's why influences of European flourishing art centres are also evident in works of art displayed on current exhibition. In the event participated 84 artists introducing 237 works in the fields of painting, sculpture, graphics and applied arts made by different techniques. Among artists were: Vladas Didziokas, Adomas Galdikas, Antanas Gudaitis, Rimtas Kalpokas, Antanas Kucas, Telesforas Kulakauskas, Jonas Mackevicius, Jonas Rimsa, Jonas Sileika, Adomas Varnas, Zigmas Petravicius and many others.
