On January 1934 under the protectorate of Latvian president Alberts Kviesis the Rīgas pils (Riga Castle) housed Swedish Folk Art Exhibition. Exhibition was organized by Stockholm Nordic Museum. In the foreword to the catalogue Nordic Museum intendant Professor Sigurd Erixon had explained exhibition goals and missions. This exhibition represented ethnographic material and covered some of the most important Swedish folk art sectors in the last two centuries: typical homes, home furnishing and furniture, home decorations and workshop tools, costumes and textiles. The exhibition also provided an overview of presented folk art sectors works in different regions of Sweden. Were displayed 195 pieces of folk art listed in exhibition catalog. Before each sector of exhibits in the catalog given its short characteristic and regional features, also included 33 illustrations and plate depicting Swedish regional map.
