Scarce and valuable edition considering Estonia`s most important representative of expressionist, cubist and constructivist tendencies Jaan Vahtra. Present exhibition catalog of works by Jaan Vahtra and other Estonian cubist painters contains foreword describing Vahtra's biography and cubism establishing in Estonia with mentioning all prominent Estonian masters of cubism, 26 full-page reproductions of Jaan Vahtra's art, 23 full-page reproductions of other Estonian cubist artists, Vahtra's exhibited works list classified by year of creation, list of works by other cubist painters, bibliographical references. Current personal exhibition dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Jaan Vahtra provides a vision of his career development. Here presented all the periods of the artist's creation: oil paintings, watercolors, graphics and book illustrations. Totally were displayed 333 Vahtra's works of period 1912-1946. Along with Vahtra's works exhibition also presented 103 art creations of other Estonian cubist painters and artists who were influenced by cubism: Arnold Akberg, Friedrich Hist, Ferdinand Kask, Märt Laarman, Arkadio Laigo, Anna Laigo-Lukats, Juhan Muks, Eduard Ole, Henrik Olvi, Aleksander Krims, Felix Johansen, Juhan Raudsepp, August Roosileht, Ardo Sivard, Eduard Timbermann, Kuno Veeber. Jaan Vahtra (1882 1947) among all his other achievements recognised as the man who brought Cubism to Estonia. At the beginning of the 1920s in Vahtra works took place concentration to graphic art that became the general part of his creation, according to which he is most of all valued. Under the leadership of Jaan Vahtra in 1923 was established Eesti Kunstnikkude Rühm (Estonian Artists Group) which united a new generation of painters committed to Cubist experimentation.
