Scarce richly illustrated exhibition guide for the Estonian art exhibition held during the time of German occupation and comprising art creation of three generations of Estonian artists. War-time cultural art life (1941-1944) was unexpectedly vital and productive from the aspect of art exhibitions. But this exhibition can be named remarkably special, because of its great mission which aims to acquaint the viewer with the Estonian art and its place in European art culture - certainly it is relatively young in age and quite narrow in space, but the main importance of Estonian art lies in its individuality! In order to show art scene of the era, catalog gives an overview of creations of some famous masters presented at the exhibition, mentioned their main works. 

First part of the exhibition is devoted to the older masters, who worked from the middle of 18th century until the beginning of 19th century, and whose artistic styles were characterized mostly as Romanticism, Realism and Naturalism. In this section were presented 184 artworks by 11 masters - Voldemar Friedrich Krüger, Karl Ludvig Maybach, Johan Köler, August Ludvig Weizenberg, Amandus Heinrich Adamson, Tõnis Grenzstein, Paul Raud, Ants Laikmaa, Alfred Hirv, Oskar Kallis, Aleksander Uurits. 

Second part of the exhibition introduses the creation of young artists. This New generation was focused on horizons broaden towards the Europe. Most of them studied and educated in European countries. They shook old convictions and created a new fashion of art, bringing Modernist art movements to Estonian culture scene such as Impressionism, Expressionism, Futurism, Constructivism etc. Among the painters the Neoromantic style become very popular. Graphical works of Estonian masters also reached a new level, giving to the world amazing presentation of woodcut, linocut and steel engraving technique. New generation was presented by 180 works of Kristjan Raud, Konrad Mägi, Nikolai Triik, August Jansen, Peet Aren, Paul Burman, Jaan Grüünberg, Eduard Järv, Arkadio Laigo, Hando Mugasto, Roman Nyman, Ado Vabbe, Aleksander Vardi-Bergman, Eduard Wiiralt and other great names. 

The third part of the exposition introduces to the visitors applied arts achievements - 38 works in the fields of ceramics, leather bookbinding, glass engraving technique, tapestry etc. The catalog reproduces 32 outstanding art works of different authors.
