Near Fine condition; Fragile book cover paper with tears on the front cover along spine fold. Two small pieces broken off of front cover left upper and bottom corner near the spine ends, damaged bottom end of the spine; internally perfect preservation.

Current catalogue for the French drawings exhibition from the 16th to the early 19th centuries from the collection of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts includes introduction describing museum drawings collections, article giving overview and characteristics of French drawing, explanatory text for the purposes of present exhibition, list of 169 displayed works and 4 illustration plates. Instead of a conventional concentration on a particular school, chronological period or type of subject-matter, the keynote of the exhibition is variety of function, style and technique. The selection of works is intended to reflect  the remarkable richness of almost four centuries of French drawings. 16th century was represented with schools of Claude Lorrain and Nicolas Poussin, also Joseph Parrocel, Sebastien Bourdon and other old masters. From the 17th century were displayed works of Jean-Antoine Watteau and his school, Nicolas Lancret and his scholars, Joseph Vernet, Hubert Robert and many others. Among 18th century recognized artists were exhibited drawings of Jacques-Louis David, Jean-Honore Fragonard, Jean-Baptiste Greuze, Jean-Michel Moreau the younger etc. Also exhibition showcased the works of the begining of 19th century by Eugene Delacroix, Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, Honore Daumier, Gustave Dore and others.
