The article "Micius, ein chinesischer Vorläufer des christlichen Kommunismus" authored by Ferdinand Frey was firstly published in 1899 in the Die Neue Zeit ("The New Times"), a German socialist theoretical journal of the Social Democratic Party of Germany. In 1906 the article translated into Russian was published as a separate edition in the Maria Malykh publishing house in S.-Petersburg, which was mostly concentrated on political issues and followed Lenin’s and Plekhanov’s advices. 

Following the communist propaganda aims, the brochure introduces basic ideas of ancient Chinese socialism in the teaching of the philosopher Micius (or Mozi, c. 470 – c. 391 BC) outlined by the German writer.
