Very Good condition; cover shows some creasing and slight soiling, restored spine; internally soft creases across outer corners of some sheets, few occasional foxing spots on the margins.

The book contains ten articles about Prilensky Krai, which describe geography and climate, mineral resources, population (indigenous - Yakuts, Tunguses, Buryats, and non-indigenous - Cossacks, Russians, and others mainly deportees), crafts and occupations (fishing, hunting, agriculture, gardening, gold-digging). Separate chapters are about Yakut Cossacks as standing guard over Yakutia, sectarian settlement Skoptsy, abundance of the mentally ill people and impact of living conditions on the disease development, shipping in the Arctic Ocean. The Conclusion provides an assessment of the Yakutsk region and the whole Prilensky Krai and projections of development in the near future.

In 1878 an ancestral nobleman Izmail Gamov (1852 - about 1899) was arrested in political reasons and exiled to East Siberia, there published number of research works about the Region.
