The brochure published by the State Publishing House located in St. Petersburg on the occasion of the ceremonial opening of its new industrial buildings on November 28, 1910 icludes general information preceding construction, buildings and equipment projects description, budget formation, construction process; architectural plan of main building, floor plans and general view of printshop depicted on separate plates. 

The State Printing House was founded in Saint-Petersburg according to the order of Nikolai I in 1827 for the purpose of printing the Complete Corpus of the laws of Russian Empire. Due to the increase in orders in the beginning of 20th century, arose the need for expansion. Construction work of the new industrial buildingas lasted from 1907 to 1910 by the project of the famous architect L.N. Benois. The project was based on the design of Paris National Printing House: with a separately standing, illuminated from the sides and from above through the glass cupola printshop in the center.
